how it works
Artistic interventions are keystone in Stordes’ work. They shape the interactions with our audiences and are instrumental in the creation of the eventual outcomes: newly felt abilities.
This text shines a light on these manifestations of our work, for you to understand how in a unique way their properties contribute to the rise of an enriched palet of acting which strengthens the meaningful position of the organisation in the world around it.
meaning and intention
Every intervention is a witness of the believe that people in an organisation should feel the freedom to overcome the constraints of conventions and reassess the essence and workings of an organisation.
A freedom based on an openness to wonder, the courage to project stretched, recoloured, speculative images on the existing organisation through the lenses of desire and evoked need. A freedom that is eventually activated in an acting that matches the raised intentions.
The interventions both leave personal and individual imprints and provoke interactions between participants to investigate a common meaning.

The artistic interventions of Stordes always relate to organisations. To what an organisation is in its essence, what it stands for in this time and age, how it functions as a social sculpture. The interventions touch the acting that leverages human efforts as an organisation.
Every intervention is set in a specific context of an organisation. That context may relate to its role and purpose, its value creating set-up, its size, its culture, its modi operandi, its people, its position in society
We do expand to references outside the domain of organisations and add deviating dimensions to what we see as an organisation.
Often we catch that specific context in intriguing notions to work with.

art as organisation
Why is art such a crucial notion for Stordes and the interventions it initiates?
There is no final answer to that question. What art is, is nearly impossible to define and it evolves continuously, also due to that exact character of art.
And yet at the same time art investigates in profound ways the human condition in its endless dimensions and ultimate consequences.
Both this impossibility and this quality create a powerful attitude to think about an organisation and shape it as a social structure through the acting of its people.
Artistic interventions embody this attitude. Every intervention is in its own way a tangible manifestation that reflects a process of investigation, deep thought, profound emotions and precise creation. It reconciles doubt and certainty. It creates art as an organisation, inevitably.
interventions do intervene
intensely
and
thoughtful
with care
Our artistic Interventions always have an element of disturbance. They are provocative agents of change and opportunity. They critically break into the usual modi operandi of an organisation.
The interventions always induce a participation of the people in the organisation. An active involvement is unavoidable. Every intervention exposes people to something by doing. It provokes emotions and thought. Leaves insight, shapes intention and entices acting.
Some interventions are just instructions, other involve more active and direct involvement of Stordes, in the form of a workshop or a curated dialogue. We offer settings for wandering and wondering, prompt intense looking or ask for disciplined creation. Every specific context is input for the actual form.
formats
that match
the audience
The interventions have basically three different types of audiences. The interventions for each of them have distinguished features.
The interventions for the individual leader, the one curious to shape the organisation outside the known dimensions, focus on discovering the mechanisms of leverage. A mix of experimenting based on études and dialogues helps to find a more effective acting.
The initiatives for leadership teams consist of a coherent set of interventions to find fresh references while diving into the essence of effectiveness and meaning. The team devises individual and common scenarios of acting that embody an evoked and shared sense of wonder, intent and progress.
The interventions for the organisation as one pinpoint specific themes that have a wider relevance in the organisation. People are asked to contribute in small but encouragingly intriguing ways. Results are shared and create a common experience and awareness.
…. recoloured relevance, humanised strategy, redrawn responsibilities, purposeful language, visual algorithms of interaction, hyper light structures ….
Artistic interventions create the space and stimuli to reflect while doing and entice its audiences to enrich their acting as part of an organisation. That acting is captured in the scenarios of acting..
In the end the most relevant traces of the intervention are in the activation of scenarios. The acting ultimately defines the manifestation and the meaning of the organisation in a most effective way.
How this activation precisely works out, Stordes leaves to the participants. The art work is owned by the organisation and they are free to do with it what they find appropriate.
The precise results of that acting are endless, yet always connected to the context of the organisation.
how it works
the silent inclination
to explore different possibilities

an application
of artistic interventions
The typical occasion for an organisation to engage in artistic interventions with Stordes is when the usual does not suffice to move the organisation forward.
Intensive dialogues with Stordes critically clarify the context, resulting in a plan. A plan that deliberately leaves considerable room for participants to find a new freedom to go beyond the known.
This approach asks for well thought out preparations.
Settings, time lines, activities, exposure to the unfamiliar, deviating references, instructions and a clearly stated ending are all defined to such an extend that maximises an improbable but valued outcome.
We trust our mastery based on extensive experience and our thinking and acting as artists to make an impact for the organisation to flourish in remarkable ways.
